Every person with diabetes needs a foot screen, because by the time a neuropathic foot hurts or a patient notices a wound, the protective window has usually closed. Neuropathy is often silent and undiagnosed, and it hides the pain of peripheral artery disease. Most screening failures are operational rather than conceptual: socks left on and intervals never booked miss more feet than gaps in knowledge.
The module teaches the screen as a fixed sequence: history, shoes and socks off, inspection, the 10 g monofilament or Ipswich touch test, pulse palpation with ABI or TBI where perfusion is doubtful, a footwear check, then category assignment. It shows how to read bedside vascular tests honestly, including why a normal ABI never excludes PAD in diabetes and why an ABI above 1.3 signals calcification. It covers screening intervals, pre-ulcerative lesions that need same-day action, and temperature awareness between reviews.
Content is tiered at Foundation, Core and Advanced level, with worked scoring examples, two algorithms and case vignettes. You receive the Teaching Document, the Evidence Base, the slide deck, a narrated video and an audio overview.
