Roughly half of people with diabetes who present with a foot ulcer have peripheral arterial disease. It delays or prevents healing, raises the risk of amputation, and marks a systemic atherosclerotic burden that threatens the heart and brain as well as the foot. A limb that is revascularised while the patient's statin, antiplatelet and smoking-cessation care is neglected is a job half done.
Where A04 focuses on detecting and measuring perfusion, this module covers staging and treatment. It teaches WIfI staging of wound, ischaemia and foot infection, when a non-healing ulcer or a toe pressure below 30 mmHg should trigger urgent referral and imaging, and how to read the BEST-CLI and BASIL-2 trials when weighing bypass against an endovascular-first approach. Advanced content adds GLASS anatomy, conduit and angiosome reasoning. It also covers best medical therapy, monitoring after revascularisation, and the limb that cannot be revascularised. D03 takes these into the team's decision: sequencing, open or endovascular repair, amputation level and when salvage is no longer the goal.
Content is tiered at Foundation, Core and Advanced level, with two decision algorithms and case vignettes. You receive the Teaching Document, the Evidence Base, the slide deck, a narrated video and an audio overview.
